I Think Too Much

How can I prevent this from happening before bed?

When you get into bed (preferably a comfortable one and at the best temperature for you) close you eyes and think of nothing. If this is a problem then try to picture a piece of black velvet. It may be hard at first but you have to completely block your mind from thinking and just keep imagining that piece of black velvet.

Of course there may be very important/stressful things in your life but you have to convince yourself that once in bed you can do nothing about them until the morning.
