I have to admit I am with you on this, @goliathtree, unless one is using it to, say, lose weight (feel full but only have ingested celery juice and celery roughage).
I remember trying V-8 once, long ago, noting that tomatoes are prominently displayed on the container. It was a sad shock to find that the primary "note" to the flavor was celery...
