You're not pathetic. It's our culture that's pathetic. For most of human history we've lived in communities where everyone supported each other, knew each other. If you were born in it, you were part of it. Recently humanity has descended into individualism and a system where everyone fends for themselves. People forget that we humans are beings of community and social connection. We have the ability to collaborate. We evolved in tribes and villages. Social units. There wasn't the epidemic of loneliness we're experiencing today.

It hurts to be lonely yet we fear admitting to other people that we are. We're afraid of showing our vulnerability and emotionality. I suggest volunteering for a good cause. Maybe joining a support group. Being around caring and compassionate people. Being in a space where people won't judge you
