I Spend a Lot of Time By Myself

And I am CONTENT with it. Why can't others SEE my POV?

Both my brothers ask me. I have a friend who is constantly asking me to "go out and eat" with her. The topper was just this week when a virtual stranger (a real estate agent) was interviewing me on getting an apartment at their facility. The weather outside was lousy (snowstorm) when, out of a clear blue sky, she said, "Well, when the weather is better and there's no snow, do you ever go out?"

What difference does it make, as long as I pay my rent on time and my own bills? I have things to do here and can entertain myself sufficiently. She continued. "Well, when it gets warm enough, you can go out and sit in the courtyard."

I was bugged to do the same thing by my one friend to sit out on the patio and read. That patio belongs to the first floor tenants, and I have plenty of chairs inside when I want to read. If I want to sit in a courtyard, I can go to a park and feed pigeons.

I have a walker and severely arthritic knees. Everybody who knows me knows this. I just got a call from my one brother about "changing your eating habits" and "buying less". I will make any adjustments necessary. I did when I moved in here nine years ago, and now that I have to leave, I'll do it once again. And who cares WHAT I eat and where I buy it? It is MY money.

I can be content alone. I like to have friends, but not all the time. And, please, DON'T tell me how to live my life!
