A sensitive question

I deal with a lot of suic**** tendencies. Well that's how f*cked up my head is. But it's because I feel it's the easiest way out of the pain. I'm battling the thought everyday. Somedays easier while some make it hard for me.

So my question is this actually. How would you deal with a coworker who talks about this at work as a joke. For instance if shit gets hard, she will state she wants to do it. I can sense she's fooling around. She'll be like I'll do it and my husband will suffer with the kids.

But why would a person make jokes on a subject like that?

It's annoying and I get pissed off. Idk why do people consider this a joke in the first place. Is it normal or am I overthinking this?

I honestly think that's her way to prevent herself from actually doing it. She advertises for the dark idea that goes through her head in a joking manner so that she gets it out of her mind. It can lessen the impact it has on her by having the others chime in and remind her how crazy that sounds whether directly or indirectly. Even laughing along can low-key signal to her that she's going overboard bc otherwise it wouldn't trigger a reaction from those surrounding her in the first place. I think she needs help herself, even though she comes across as insensitive. She might be trying to sensitize herself by saying her thoughts out loud and hearing them at the expense of the others, who she uses to keep herself on the ground.
