A sensitive question

I deal with a lot of suic**** tendencies. Well that's how f*cked up my head is. But it's because I feel it's the easiest way out of the pain. I'm battling the thought everyday. Somedays easier while some make it hard for me.

So my question is this actually. How would you deal with a coworker who talks about this at work as a joke. For instance if shit gets hard, she will state she wants to do it. I can sense she's fooling around. She'll be like I'll do it and my husband will suffer with the kids.

But why would a person make jokes on a subject like that?

It's annoying and I get pissed off. Idk why do people consider this a joke in the first place. Is it normal or am I overthinking this?

For some people that’s "whistling in the graveyard" and they’re just venting. But there’s no way to know. I would ask them, "Are you okay ? Do you need help ?" every time they made such a joke, because people who are really okay don’t need to joke about that sort of thing. In 2005, a colleague jumped from the 16th floor of a building adjacent to ours during her lunch break. The only thing she said before going out was, "I’m sick of this."

@bijouxbroussard I know the feeling. I'm sorry that happened.

It could indeed be a cry for help.
