Alcohol is hardly a good escape. And I keep it readily at hand, almost no night ends without some. It's like a cheap, lovely, fairy that makes, and later escalates everything, better for a quick moment. And she is damn tempting.
I quit once for a hundred days. I knew the expression, now that I'm clean. I was full of energy, felt youthful (always subjective), with a new bounce in me. Nothing in my life had changed outside that decision. So everything else was the same. I had a partner at the time, she worked in a bar/restaurant. It was spring/summer. The time when many would go and enjoy nights on a patio. She also didn't drive, so either I picked her up, or she took a taxi. Shared expenses, right? You can see I chose to pick her up.
But... and I didn't blame her, sober people and needing to be away from alcohol are their own selves... Patios/bars are very boring when you are sipping on water and others are partaking in fun. She would make me sit and watch them. I was never sure if she was being vindictive, I had refused quitting drinking for a long time, it angered her a lot - or was it just more, she is unwinding after work. Hard to know.
I'm not sure, I'll ever pick abstinence again, everything in life is possible if you make it so... but yes, just giving up for a few days you will notice changes including skin, energy, and more. 🤗

Big eyes! It will get better as time passes. In my opinion, yes, alcohol is a depressant, but there's a psychological companion to that, a kind of depressive mindset, which takes a bit longer to clear.
After I sobered up, I realized that if anybody forced us to get drunk, we'd regard it as torture.

@Mamapolo2016 yeah, I definitely think it will take some time to get away from it and to stop going back to it. But I will keep trying 💙
Good job getting sober! 😊

Yeah I'm lucky that I cba being drunk. I'll have the ocassional drink at home if there's a reason or an occassion, or I'll drink a bit more if I'm in good company and talking to lots of people but I've always been good with that. I don't like the feeling of being drunk at all. Like I'm moving from the city and this is my last few weeks here so I'm just having fun and taking it easy, couple 330ml beers in the day maybe for fun if I feel like it.
I noticed though that I have lots more energy and feel more motivated and healthier when I don't drink though.

I made a vow last Sunday to take a few weeks off drinking. I had a drink on Monday. I’ve drunk less this week than I did last week so it’s a bit of progress. No drink today. Aiming at very least to get to next weekend without drinking.
I want to get the benefits of not drinking question is do I want it enough, glad you’ve seen a positive outcome so far. All the best with it
