The weather’s begun really changing…

I’ve started going to bed earlier because the temperature drops and the flat, in a very old building, starts getting cold around 9:00 pm. This week I brought out and washed the thick blankets and afghans; once I’m showered and tucked in, I’ve been ready to sleep through the night, although first I sometimes watch tv on my IPad before drifting off.

I do also have an electric blanket and space heater, but they send my energy bill through the roof. So I generally hold off on using them until it gets into the 30s (Fahrenheit), later in the month. I’m getting a lot more restful sleep and am slightly less of a night owl than usual. 🦉

I have experienced winter in the San Francisco area. I know what you are talking about.

My wife grew up in Milwaukee, and what made winter tough for her was the fact that the city, like SF, is on a major body of water, and so it was always a windy, wet cold.

When she moved to Minnesota, which is colder but dryer, she found it more bearable. She calls it "honest cold."
