The weather’s begun really changing…

I’ve started going to bed earlier because the temperature drops and the flat, in a very old building, starts getting cold around 9:00 pm. This week I brought out and washed the thick blankets and afghans; once I’m showered and tucked in, I’ve been ready to sleep through the night, although first I sometimes watch tv on my IPad before drifting off.

I do also have an electric blanket and space heater, but they send my energy bill through the roof. So I generally hold off on using them until it gets into the 30s (Fahrenheit), later in the month. I’m getting a lot more restful sleep and am slightly less of a night owl than usual. 🦉

I have experienced winter in the San Francisco area. I know what you are talking about.

My wife grew up in Milwaukee, and what made winter tough for her was the fact that the city, like SF, is on a major body of water, and so it was always a windy, wet cold.

When she moved to Minnesota, which is colder but dryer, she found it more bearable. She calls it "honest cold."
we've had unseasonably warm temperatures here. not by a huge margin but nevertheless. i don't even have the heat on right now. but it's been wet. floods in some parts and also in washington state....i'm in no threat of floods where i am and i'm happy with the warmer temps...hovering around 50f 10c

My heat has been broken for many years. I used to get blazing hot or nothing. Now it’s just blazing hot and nonstop. I have to sleep with a window open and a fan in front of it. My new landlords are slumlords. When I leave, I’ll be letting the Management know all about them, the heat is included in the fees.

It's just been in the low 40's here so far, but it's been harder for me to make myself stay up until at least 11:00 lately...too. The nights seem to stretch on so much longer sometimes now, since the "fall back" time change.

First thing in the morning I get a fire going in the woodstove. They feed the dog and get hot coffee for my wife and myself. But get that fire going first. :)

I watch this usually in January - but here it is - from a different culture but makes sense...

But, OK, I'm going to sleep - I'm 3 hours ahead of you....

You're a lot further north. It's unusually warm here way down south.

And here is me debating weather I need to leave the ceiling fan on all night while sleeping without covers.
@whowasthatmaskedman This is the equivalent of summer months, down under ?

@bijouxbroussard Why you people insist on putting so many major holidays in the worst weather of the year is beyond me..😷

Electric blankets were great in unheated bedrooms on the farm growing up

I have vibrant dreams when it is cold at night.

@Tastyfrzz Those are close to our numbers for the weekend.. Of course, ours are celsius.😷
@Tastyfrzz I can’t even imagine some of those numbers here. 31 is as cold as I’ve seen it.
