The night envelops me like a soft, warm blanket bringing peace and comfort, a balm for my heart and soul.

Same here! I worked nights for more than thirty years. Being up most of the night is nice in many ways.

It's quiet. The only sounds outside are the insects and the low rumble of the freeway and trains two miles away.
