I'm lonely

Kind of a bland title but I couldn't come up with something more exciting.

I definitely sympathize with this forum though. My social circle is pretty non-existent and my closest friends are online. I used to make friends easier but now it's so hard to really open up.

What is wrong with online friends? Socializing is all about conversation.

@sree251 Nothing wrong with online friends but it would be nice to be able to do things with people again. I used to love hanging out with my former roommate (hiking, going the mall, whatever). In fact we're more like brothers really. However, he's lived on the other side of the planet for years now. Anyway, that was a bit of a tangent but yeah it would be nice to have face to face friends. I'm just horrible at making it happen

@TexasDude Face to face? You would still be talking.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@sree251 In other words in the flesh, people not online. And yeah, I know, that's the biggest hurdle sometimes, talking.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@TexasDude In the flesh for what reason?
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@sree251 Like I said, to be able to hang out or go do things together
sree251 · 41-45, M
@TexasDude Do what things together in the flesh? Are you talking about sex or what?
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@sree251 No. Just hang out. Go hiking or out to eat sometimes or "normal" friend things.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@TexasDude ok, so your social circle has to be doing things together in three dimensions, and you need to be able to see, hear, feel each others' physical presence. Times has changed. We don't go to the store anymore. We buy things online and even work from home.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@sree251 Well I don't know if I need it. It's just really nice. And I buy things in person all the time. I rarely shop on the internet.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@TexasDude Yeah, I also prefer doing things in person. I also get pleasantly surprised when I get a coffee and a bite to eat at a store and they only take cash and no credit cards. I make sure I have cash these days in my wallet or car.

Depends on who. I prefer going to physical stores. I can't imagine buying a lot of stuff before touching/smelling them and checking for possible flaws.
And having real life friends is vital. You don't even know the person behind the screen. You can't read their body language, don't see them react to unexpected situation which happen in real life. An online conversation can't hold a candle to going out for a drink or playing some games like darts or table soccer or simply being out there and reacting to things happening around together. I really miss stuff like that.

@CrazyMusicLover Ok, you need a physical world tangible to the senses. It is a lot slower than the digital world where we are heading.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@sree251 Slower but has higher quality to me.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@CrazyMusicLover Oh, definitely. It is a world of sensations.
