I Am Lonely

Has anyone ever felt socially isolated...? My background is quite... Different, putting the story mildly. I was kept away from other people, forcibly of course. I wasn't allowed to make friends, hang out with anyone (including relatives such as cousins), and if I did... The consequences would be horrifying, at least in my mind. I grew up on a tight leash, as some might call it. I'm seventeen now and, to summarize, I have no friends (literally), no one to talk to (as I don't want to be yelled or screamed at), and no drivers license because I "don't need to drive," so they put it...

@LucyFuhr Agreed. Because of the Internet, I've had my fair share of people who've tried to "befriend" me. I know enough to see that there are many predators that lurk on the web. Thus, I try to limit myself in what I reveal, so long as it doesn't relate to the topic at hand.

@PastelPinkie...If your father disapproved of you having friends your own age or even talking to your cousins, how do you think he'll feel about your new 51-55yr old man friend?
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
@LucyFuhr I completely agree with your statement. I rarely ever give out my personal information on the Internet, usually only using it to write or talk about my internal emotions.
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
@LucyFuhr I have already blocked the person, whom I was already suspicious of. I am not as "senseless" as I seem, despite myself not having friends.

@deanboy89 Friendship over the internet is quite difficult for me haha. It's a vast place with millions of users daily😬
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
@deonboy89 There are millions of fish in this ocean called the internet, but there are a rare few that truly are who they say😬
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
@deonboy89 That can also be true. I use writing as an outlet to my emotions in reality, so you could say that I show parts of myself that I wouldn't show to others in real life. However, that isn't to say that I'm one-hundred percent myself on the Internet. They are simply parts of who I am, not more or less😬

i can sorta relate, i grew up with 4 other siblings , so i only really hung out with them, mum hated having anyone over. so when I grew up, I never actually knew how to hang out with freinds..its weird yeah , but i had to actually learn how to socialize
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
@Sunshine I actually do have siblings, all younger than me. The freedom I do have consists of being able to go to classes on campus; however, I do wish to experience the lasting friendships that occur over the course of a lifetime.
i keep encountering Tight Leash people.. mot of them are either in a strict religion or and isolated ethno- cultural group..
I have been usefull to some, with clues and hints on how to integrate, explanations on request
Sunshine · 26-30, F
PastelPinkie, you will experience all that. Friendships you make in a typical school day can last a lifetime too.

deon, internet friends are great but friends in real life are truly the greatest.

I had that with my mum. She didn't let me make friends, and even though shes dead now i still can't make friends.
there are reasons she didn't but it still was upsetting.
HeWhoLaughs · 26-30, M
y i know real freinds are great, im not thaaaaat much of a socially isolated nerd (woooo big words n.n ) . i mean online freinds are great cause you can be way more yourself around them ...usually...
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
@Sunshine It would be a great honor to have a friend in reality. That's probably an aspect I miss most about my childhood. That is, having a friend to bond with over the course of several years.
Sunshine · 26-30, F
Do you have siblings? Well, you seem to have some freedoms now. Enjoy. 🙂

Girlwithsilverheart, I'm sure if her parents were Mormons she'd be allowed to have friends from their church. 🙂
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
@deonboy89..."best way to make friends is the internet by far"?

The internet???
The same internet where half the people you meet aren't who they say they are?
HeWhoLaughs · 26-30, M
oh i can understand, and some are creeps, even i run into creeps. but if your lucky you can manage to find awesome people ... like internet unicorns.....intercorns...
HeWhoLaughs · 26-30, M
siblings are the best , but also can be the worst, my big sis even had to push me to socialize lol best way to make freinds is the internet by far :)
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
@PastelPinkie...I don't consider you senseless.
I just wanted to drive home the point that your first real friend, shouldn't be an old man.
HeWhoLaughs · 26-30, M
most of my stuff is more poemy stuff , just stuff i write that comes off the top of my head, but i like writing full stories too
Sunshine · 26-30, F
PastelPinkie, take heed if you're tempted to read deonboy's stuff. It's not rated PG. I wish I didn't. 😖
PastelPinkie · 22-25, F
