The smaller birds gorge themselves and while doing so, their actions throw seed (more than they actually eat) to the ground. Mother nature, as always, takes care of the otherwise wasted seed and nuts.
We on the other hand, throw food in garbage while others starve.
@moonlightlullaby me too, which is why I placed the feeder near a window so I could watch them. Earlier today I had finches and robins at the feeder, a couple of Blue Jays and a squirrel on the ground eating.
Sometimes the feeder has 6 or seven birds feeding of it and others flying in, bumping others out of the way and this went on for twenty minutes or so.
