One of my weird food hangups

I don't know how people can eat more than one starch/grain at a meal.

Like when people eat bread and pasta in one sitting, or corn and potatoes, or noodles and rice, etc. My brain just screams "TOO MANY CARBS" and I can't eat them.

I guess it comes from having a mom who was really into nutrition and she was always careful about her food pairings. We always had a protein, a starch/carb, and two types of green/colorful veggies. 🍗🥔🥦🥗

As far as I'm concerned, it's common sense. Anyone who has all-carb meals is the real weirdo.

I think your mother was right. I have to carefully watch my carbs because I have type-2 diabetes. I can have complex carbs like whole wheat bread, but I really have to avoid simple carbs like white bread, white rice, pasta, potatoes.

I notice many people don't eat green vegetables with their evening meal anymore. You need your greens people.
The thought never crossed my mind.....

IE
Pasta and Garlic Bread ...... YES!!!!

Growing up in an Italian family, we always used the Italian bread to mop up the sauce after eating the pasta!

But I generally only want one carb at a meal. Thanksgiving is a major exception. (And Italian food is still another!)
