Are you addicted to SW?

Be honest. Who doesn't like hearing from online friends, receiving humorous replies to a post, or reading thought-provoking messages. But, maybe some of us depend on SW more than we should??? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

I like all of that stuff but I don't get ANY of that stuff here on SW, never did.

When I was on EP, I use to hear from online friends, I received humorous replies to a post and I always read thought-provoking messages, but SW is simply not set up as a web platform to enable any of that kind of action.

This website is strictly set up as a Q & A format, no different than playing a game of trivial pursuit at a very slow party in mixed company with a bunch of Catholics on Sunday afternoon at grandma's house.

@swirlie Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts! I agree with your analysis, and wish things were different. So, I do try to make things better by engaging with PMs. Of course, not everyone wants to receive them.

I miss EP, too!

No matter what, I wish you better times on SW!

But PM's are part of the bigger problem here. Did you know that over 80% of the traffic on this website happens underground where nobody can participate, which of course means those who do participate are doing it through PM's with someone we can't interact with?

@swirlie Yes, actually, I realize it's most of the traffic, but I couldn't have cited a proportion. I was just lamenting the fact to a friend that many have profiles with no posts, but these same people don't reply to PMs.

What do you do to try to make SW work for you? If you don't mind, perhaps we can chat about it via PM??!? 🙂

You know what, I'm a very liberal minded person and I don't need to hide my thoughts from anyone who would like to listen to them. I've done my fair share of PM's in the past, but they don't really serve anyone unless you really have a thing going on with that one person in the PM.

Why would you not want to host your conversation up here on the open forum for everyone else to read, instead of just you and me?
splendid · 41-45, M
@swirlie Thank you. The reason I had suggested that a PM might be appropriate was in case you had some aspects that you would prefer not be public. I'm pleased that you have sufficient strength of your convictions to make them public.
