UK violent and sexual offenders to be confined to an area of a few miles after their release from prison

They will also be GPS tracked. I would imagine that this will be of great reassurance to their victims, because a violent sexual offender isn't likely to risk going to prison just to commit evil acts. Oh wait.... 🤔

This is all just further manufactured reasons to let people out of prison because our prisons are overcrowded. The courts already pass as many suspended sentences as possible to avoid sending anyone else to prison, such that there is almost no deterrent for low level crime. Shoplifting is pretty much permitted, security aren't allowed to challenge them and police won't come. Police won't come out if your car or bike is stolen, you have insurance and can gather the CCTV yourself. Police won't come out if an offender is actually in your garden because they aren't in the house so that's ok.

UK = FUKT 💥

Fck. I live within walking distance of 1
Lol, I've said many a time that a restraining order won't keep me safe "Why???" you might ask... the nearest police station that is staffed is 7.2 miles away.

If STBX is outside, threatening to ram his car into my home... do you think that'd take longer for him to do than it'd take the popo to drive 7.2 miles on lights and sirens??? Do I fling up a piece of paper in front of my gas meter to stop him hitting it (even though the orders are likely emails these days)???

Don't you guys also have some crazy law that if someone decides to illegally live in your house long enough, they thet gain ownership of the house? 😆 I remember some bizarre Reddit stories from the UK like that. 😆

@InfoTunaBotTheReturn Riiight it's called sqautter's rights! It sound insane to me, why do squatters need rights? :c I also do not understand why it takes a long time to throw out someone who's not paying, like it should be pretty clear that they need to move out if they stop paying rent?
@Nightwings It's just the way that the law works when you prioritise social justice over actual justice. I'm not saying that there isn't a place for social justice, but to treat the tenant as the victim and the "rich landlord" as wealthy enough to cope, essentially, then there is no real justice. The position is taken that you simply can't make someone homeless even if they haven't paid rent in months, so you have to go through the courts at your own cost and get them evicted which takes an age. The tenant can be ordered to pay the court costs but invariably they will have insufficient funds and so the landlord, who has to pay the costs initially, never recovers the money. They lose a year of rent plus court costs just to get their own property back and when they get it back they find that they tenant has trashed the place.

@InfoTunaBotTheReturn It sounds to me like they don't want to look bad by having homeless people on the streets, hence the solution to pester all their other citizens with them, then slap a popular name on it. 😆

It's such bullshit. We have the same exact issues here especially with shop lifting. So many violent repeat offenders who get let go and the rest of us have to deal with the consequences

I'm a firm believer that the vast majority of these people should never walk free ever again. Whether that be life in prison, the death penalty, or being banished to some remote island with all the other reprobates with no outside assistance and completely forgotten of.

It's a sick joke that these offenders can walk free and terrorize every day people
