Without mental illness I would never have ended up here

That's the truth. I used to think that chatting to people online that you didn't know in real life was such a loser activity. I was in a fine position to judge of course, being a complete loser as I was at the time 🙄 However, it was only mental illness that saw me seeking support online and then you just get hooked to this stuff.

I know the rest of you guys and girls are not mental, just wanted to clarify that I am 👀

I think the real truth is that everyone struggle with mental health to some degree, it is part of being human. I understand that some people struggle more than others, and that there's a difference between mental illness and emotional struggles, but when it all comes down to it, I don't really think of myself as different from a person who suffers from schizophrenia; yes they experience some things that are not real, but they also experience all the same real things I do. It's an illness like any physical illness, and many people with no diagnosed mental illness act far more like lunatics on a daily basis, so what is "normal" really? 😅

@Nightwings It's a good point. We all face many similar challenges and many different challenges. The difference is often not about the challenge but about how much it affects the individual and that's where mental health is a big factor. My crisis could be your bad day and vice versa.

@ostfuidctyvm I never know whether to heart or laugh react to your responses lmao. You're a gem here on SW, and I like that you share your serious thoughts and feelings, in between jokes, too. You make a great point about the impact being the real difference, and I think it's safe to say that many people here went through something, whether it was mental or physical illness, or being down on their luck. I think that's where the general acceptance here comes from. Well, perhaps the ones who do judge, are still processing their own stuff. 😸
