My house backs on to a canal and a pub

The benefits are:

When there is an England football match on I will know when we have scored just by opening the window and listening to the roar from the pub

I get to be the audience for karaoke night every weekend from the comfort of my home

Occasionally I can hear live audio of a drunken fight and get to imagine the violence without seeing it

I learn how to open the locks on the canal by listening to lazy fat husbands yelling at their wives how to do it while they drive the boat like Captain Cockwash

In the summer I get to see joggers taking a piss on the bushes by the canal mid-run. Occasionally it's a woman.

I find the occasional dead heron in the garden which is a cheap alternative for Christmas lunch
