I Am Me

I cannot imagine being anyone else, could never be anyone else but myself. The uniqueness of our individuality makes us so very special, in my opinion anyway. I always tell myself that I was created with love by two amazingly beautiful and wonderful parents.

I was always a little shy as a child, with a good sense of humour. As I matured, I became more confident and perhaps a little bolder. I know that I was a lil minx back then and still one today, or so I've been told. I remember how my older sister would tease me unmercifully at times and pick on me. I'd of course have my ways of retaliating. I didn't get revenge because I'm not vindictive but it was subtle.

Life wasn't easy, growing up in a small town surrounded by plenty of gossips and some pretty nosy individuals. You couldn't say or do anything without one of those busy bodies knowing about it. My Mama would always tell each of us to mind our business and act like ladies. How we conducted ourselves was a reflection of respect for all of us as well as our parents.

My parents are both gone now, so it's up to myself and my siblings to carry on their legacy. Passing it on to our children and theirs prospectively and so forth as it continues onward. Like a beacon of light or a torch that is carried into the future for generations to come.

It can be difficult to accept that torch depending on the legacy left to you. Each generation strives to be just a bit better. But I can see with our own children it’s becoming more difficult.
@SageWanderer This generation seem to have more expectations or perhaps they have a sense of entitlement. Not all mind you, but some definitely exude that attitude. Thanks my friend, appreciated.
