It would have to be a pretty kickass small town. Very walkable, affordable, decent selection of things to do, ideally within an hour of a big city, reasonably safe.

@BlueVeins I personally have a rule of being no more than half an hour from at least a modest size city.
Sherwood provides that for me. It's 30 minutes or less from Portland.
