Heard it from Edna....

At Mother’s Day dinner yesterday, my 87-year-old friend Edna sat at the table smiling softly while the noise of family swirled around her.

A Holocaust survivor.

Unable to conceive, she is the last of her blood.

A woman who has seen humanity at its absolute worst… and still somehow chose tenderness over bitterness.

Watching her laugh over dessert felt bigger than a holiday....plus she'd had the first margarita in her life.

It felt like proof that the human spirit can crawl through fire and still reach for love.

Some mothers give life.

Some women spend their lives teaching the rest of us how to survive it.
