There are a lot of posts about going back in time. How about going back in time for a day to an era gone by.

Spend an entire day walking the streets. Going through stores. Having lunch at an old restaurant. Watching the people and listening to what they are talking about. Maybe going to a car dealership and test driving your favorite classic car when it was bran new. Would you consider that a fun day? You would be the same age you are now and provided with the appropriate attire of the day. You can't change history and this is just for a day. You would be back home that evening.

Yes, I'd go back about 20 or 30 years if it was just for a quick visit.

I had to run an errand this morning in the city, and since it took me near the mall, I decided to stop and take a look; I hadn't been down there since some time before covid.

And...Sears is gone! 😞 It isn't unexpected, because I'd heard they hadn't been doing well for a while. But they've been the anchor store at every mall in this area since malls began. Also, I have fond memories of the giant Sears Roebuck catalog that contained everything from back to school clothing to farm implements and animals.

@SW-User I am glad you had a good day. If you went back in time, what year would you go to? Is there any city you would like it to be in? Any special time of the year?

@Musicman Not sure what year I would visit exactly, but somewhere between 1990 and 2000 in summer or fall, and it would be right where I live. Back in those days, we had wonderful restaurants and all kinds of shopping right in my own town. I have many fond memories of meeting family and friends for shopping and dining out at those places, all gone now...
