Anyone else think Oppenheimer wasn’t very good?

I really wanted to like it, too.

Ohhh edgy.

SPOLIERS

I did like it but I don't think its a classic. I'm a Nolan danboy and I don't think its his best.

It really dragged towards the end. The McCarthyite witchhunt side of the story with Downey Junior was a bit interesting but it was given way too much time. The real climax happened 2/3rds in when they did the make or break test to see if the bomb worked. That was such a well constructed dramatic section but after that it was an anti-climax.

Cilian Murhy's acting performance was Oscar worthy.

I did like the movie but I agree its overrated by most critics.

@Burnley123 I agree the McCartyite portion went on too long, and wasn’t the third act of much.

The 30 minutes before the test was great. Loved the Truman scene, too.

I agree what some have said that showing the destruction after Hiroshima would be “gore” porn, but would have done more to show actual Japanese.

The female characters were underutilized.

And WAY TOO LOUD!

Liked Cilian Murphy…Peaky Blinders fanboy here.

@Bumbles Basically, Murphy's whole career has been Nolan and Peaky Blinders. This is not a criticism!

@Burnley123 I feel exactly the same way. You summarized it well.
