I completely agree. I have tried to talk to my mom about how I feel and dismisses how I feel and automatically goes to you should be thankful for etc, etc, etc. I tell her to stop. That I never said that I wasn’t. But I have the right to express how I feel and have it acknowledged. I don’t want her to agree and tell me what I want to hear. Because that’s what she said to me. I told her if that’s she was going to do. I couldn’t talk to her. If you need to cry then cry. Feel your feelings. Just sit there and feel them. It’s ok. I know what it feels like.
I’ve posted this several times but am posting it again because it’s the best visual representation of clinical depression I’ve ever seen.
I discuss it with few people because I know how much it pains them that they can’t make it better and because they just don’t understand. And I really can’t blame them because there’s so much about my depression I don’t understand myself. But what I do know for sure is that it’s stolen a large portion of my life.
