I feel like all humans should know basic skills. Cooking, sewing, cleaning, etc is NOT just for women. Just like vehicle repairs (oil changes, changing a tire too), home repairs, and such is not just for men. These should be viewed as useful skills that we all should have anyway lol
Our Dad did the breaks on our Mom's car two weekends ago. He got us all out in the drive way and spent an afternoon teaching us about the car. We all learned how to change a flat tire and he showed us how the brake system works in a car.
I agree.I learned about cars from my dad and 2 older brothers.I can change a wheel,check oil and water level and I drive an M3 convertible. My brothers can both cook.
I told my wife that I have to go first because I have no idea how to do laundry.

I completely agree with you. You are not a fully competent adult if you can't look after yourself whilst fully equipped, mentally and physically, to do so.
