As I age the list grows shorter. But, to be honest, I’ve never been one to have a long list of friends. Male or female, I’d rather have maybe a half dozen people I really enjoy.
On SW, I’m a bit different. I like the content of a lot of people but really don’t reach out. I just don’t want to bother people.
Plus, ageism is an issue. If I was to reach out, some people would think you’re hitting on them rather than just conversing out of respect. I really just wouldn’t want anyone to think of me in that light.

@Adogslife I don't think ageism is a problem here on SW. I'm in the same age range as you and I have conversations on SW with people of all ages.

@ninalanyon The ageism here is fairly topical. much also depends on your political stance(s).
I just quoted a young woman in another thread yesterday who specifically referenced “old white men” as an inherent problem. I believe she was referencing change or politics.
I’m certainly not suggesting SW is unfriendly. I haven’t found that to be true the vast majority of the time. The culprits are almost always young women.
