Most of these are just a scam.
You can buy full spectrum LED bulbs at Home Depot or Walmart, look for 6000K which is bright white full spectrum light but even these won’t be as effective as sunlight
Sunlight exposure promotes the production of vitamin D which helps against depression but it’s not just about full spectrum, it’s about UVB light which is what stimulates vitamin D production and also causes sunburn!
None of these so called sun lamps produce the levels of UVB light which you are exposed to on a sunny day
Very few of these sunlamps have this capacity because it’s dangerous.
Lights offering full spectrum with UVB saturation would need to be labeled as potentially harmful so none of them are actually mimicking the sun

I've gone to LED lighting throughout the house in the 4700K to 5600K temperature range to have a noon day brightness in the house... bedrooms though I go with a warmer temp.
Then in the gloomy parts of the year, I increase my Vitamin D intake by taking a gel tab each day.

Not bad enough that we don't get much daylight but not getting much sunshine this year sucks.

FeetAreFantastic · 41-45, M
Isn't that a scam? Can you really simulate the sun that way?
swirlie · 31-35, F
I always go out for a brisk walk between noon and 1pm even if it's raining, because there's enough sunlight to brighten up my dullest moments at that peak sunlight time of day. I even wear sunscreen to help convince myself it's sunny outside!
MethDozer · M
Just take a vitamin d3 supplement. Word ks way better
