I'm seriously thinking of buying a sun lamp

Anyone have one lol these dark days are brutal 😬

Most of these are just a scam.
You can buy full spectrum LED bulbs at Home Depot or Walmart, look for 6000K which is bright white full spectrum light but even these won’t be as effective as sunlight
Sunlight exposure promotes the production of vitamin D which helps against depression but it’s not just about full spectrum, it’s about UVB light which is what stimulates vitamin D production and also causes sunburn!

None of these so called sun lamps produce the levels of UVB light which you are exposed to on a sunny day
Very few of these sunlamps have this capacity because it’s dangerous.

Lights offering full spectrum with UVB saturation would need to be labeled as potentially harmful so none of them are actually mimicking the sun

@Onestarlitnight yep thank you
Pretzel · 61-69, M
yeah, it's a legit treatment for people with Seasonally Affected Disorder
Lilymoon · F
@Pretzel it's artificial light but it can't hurt

I've gone to LED lighting throughout the house in the 4700K to 5600K temperature range to have a noon day brightness in the house... bedrooms though I go with a warmer temp.

Then in the gloomy parts of the year, I increase my Vitamin D intake by taking a gel tab each day.
Ontheroad · M
@Lilymoon Swap out the LEDs to a higher rating, like a 40-watt equivalent in the chandelier and you'll see a huge difference. I did that in one with 6 elements and the difference was truly like day and night.
MethDozer · M
@Ontheroad Those light temps make a house look like an office though. It's horrible.
Lilymoon · F
@MethDozer yeah that's a good point haha
Sevendays · M
Not bad enough that we don't get much daylight but not getting much sunshine this year sucks.
Sevendays · M
@Lilymoon we got a foot Sunday and there's at least another 6" since 7, 4 hours ago.

Lilymoon · F
@SW-User how did it help?
SW-User
@Lilymoon it didn't really do anything for me
Lilymoon · F
@SW-User yeah that's what I'm thinking 🤷‍♀️
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
And make sure to gargle with saltwater! 🤢
Lilymoon · F
@RuyLopez whaaat
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
@Lilymoon My Mom swears by it! If I so much as sneeze when I am visiting my Mom she will run around with a glass of salt water telling me to gargle. Honestly, it actually works. It is just nasty to get use to.
Lilymoon · F
@RuyLopez hahaha no 😬
I do own one. im considering breaking it out.
Lilymoon · F
@nonsensiclesnail does it work for you?
@Lilymoon it helps. sunshine, if kept on ones shoulder, will make you happy.
Synyster · 51-55, M

@MrBrownstone no lol
swirlie · 31-35, F
You can have mine
Raaii · 22-25, F
[c=800000]it seems like it's very costly [/c]
FeetAreFantastic · 41-45, M
Isn't that a scam? Can you really simulate the sun that way?
swirlie · 31-35, F
I always go out for a brisk walk between noon and 1pm even if it's raining, because there's enough sunlight to brighten up my dullest moments at that peak sunlight time of day. I even wear sunscreen to help convince myself it's sunny outside!
Lilymoon · F
@swirlie we haven't even had a peek of sun ☹️
swirlie · 31-35, F
@Lilymoon
It's been raining steady here too, but I force myself to get out and make it happen!
MethDozer · M
Just take a vitamin d3 supplement. Word ks way better
MethDozer · M
@swirlie I prefer good old fashioned warm temp lighting for reading. Flame or Incandescent temps are best. Those cooler and daylight temps are like fluorescent psycho lighting. It's horrible.
Lilymoon · F
@MethDozer Yeah I take the d's
swirlie · 31-35, F
@MethDozer
So, are you saying that you're not into fluorescent psycho black lighting as you sit back in your easy chair with a nice warm hash pipe in your hand to hallucinate over past events in your life then?
