In the U.S., most states have voted for or created resolutions to make DST permanent. But they can't implement it unilaterally. The Senate voted via unanimous consent for the Sunshine Protection Act. But the bill has been sitting in Congress for a year. Health officials think Standard Time is best and the money people want permanent DST. Location also matters. But almost 60 percent of Americans want permanent DST. Either way I think people just want to get in a lane and stay there.

@popmol last year for us, it stayed mostly in the 40's and we literally got no snow. I think there was a day we got flurries that amounted to nothing. I'm hearing this year we're gonna get a ton of snow. But I hatched a plan last year.
If they say we are supposed to get say like 3 or 4 feet of snow (which has happened) I plan on staying up if it's gonna be through the night and I'm gonna keep up on it, so then in the morning I don't have to break my back shoveling. If we get that much, my work will be closed, so I won't even plan on going in. I hope we don't get a big thing of snow but guess we'll just have to wait and see if we do get anything.
