@jshm2 well, I'm guessing he believed in an afterlife because I hear some hopefulness in it.

I find it uplifting but I love classical music
SW-User
@LilPrincess I agree.
bijouxbroussard · F
I find it somber, but I still like it. I used to play it.

@bijouxbroussard to me, the chords sound like someone who's close to death but will never give up. They are uplifting, in a slow, painful way.
bijouxbroussard · F
@SW-User I could see that. Now his Marche Funebre, that is truly depressing to me. 🥺
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard yes, it's meant to be, but it does have some bright points. It will never not make me think of Soviet Russia

Manilow copped 90 percent of that for this(he acknowledges it as such). In some cases it sounds like just different chord inversions, albeit with less dynamic shifts.

@uncalled4 yeah, I don't hate Barry Manilow, but he doesn't play the piece well. He's got talent, but nowhere near the level of a respected classical pianist.

@SW-User I don't think he was trying to play that piece note-for-note; he adapted it for a pop song(more than once).
SW-User
@uncalled4 you have a point. It's a pop song, so he can't go crazy with the time shifting.
