I Have a Dark Side

... And sometimes it can be comical.

Yesterday I was driving to the local city - about an hour from my coastal town (where I very much appreciate the "slower" pace of living). On the highway, I was rolling along at 70... wishing I was doing 80, so I hung out in the passing lane behind a couple of slackers - wishing they would step on it, but leaving appropriate distance for safety reasons.

Well, the douche bag who came roaring up behind me wasn't as considerate. A small red car that hung dangerously close to my rear bumper. When a brief clearing opened in the slow lane, he whippedover - hoping to pass us on the right but quickly discovered another slowpoke. He slammed his brakes and wheeled it back behind me.

I raised my hand in a "What gives?" manner - NO, NOT the middle finger... more just a shrug that said, "Where do you think you are going to go driving like a douche?" It didn't work. He remained on my bumper.

Somewhere I dug deep. Yes, he was truly pissing me off and I thought of all the ways I'd love to smack him in the whiskers... But deciding there was no sense in my being pissed, I pulled into the slow lane to let him pass.

It was a little old man who strongly resembled father time - hunched over his wheel, he briefly turned to glare at me... very clearly letting me know what a shit I was.

As he passed, I noticed the bumper sticker on the back of his car "There is no excuse for elder abuse".

I actually laughed out loud thinking how HE was the excuse. At least it took away my edge.

I loved that story and I adore cantankerous old people. I plan to be one some day. Good for you for taking the high road.

@SW-User You know... I have a soft spot for old, snaggle-toothed dogs and old, snaggle-toothed people myself.
