I'm curious to see

How many people see something on FB, here or elsewhere and look it up for themselves to see if it is accurate or just take what they have seen at face value.

I see a lot of people say they "saw something", but then provide no actual information. Then i go an look things up and find the information they "saw" was wrong, skewed or misaligned.

I am guilty of not looking things up from time to time, but when questioned on them, I will and correct things. I make mistakes. But I do try to look things up to make sure things are correct.

It just seems so many do not and I have to say, this is part of the problem with people today.

We literally can't take anything at face value anymore. There is sooooo much misinformation and propaganda out there now. We are truly in a troubling time when it comes to information, but so many people are still wanting to take things as truth at face value which only hurts us.

I saw a post where the author claimed that the US emabassador to Canada said that the US should nuke Otttawa. It is true this guy became hated in Canada when he said he was offended by Canada's anti-American sentiment with "elbows up" and boycotting american products and travel

When I looked it up, it came from a satirical Canadian website called "The Beaverton" (the name should have given it away). In the article the US embassador then poured a bottle of Labatt's Blue (popular Canadian beer), on the ground and spat on a picture of Terry Fox (beloved Canadian cancer survivor who tried to run accross the country to raise money for cancer research).

My point is, when I see something that really riles me up, I look it up to make sure it's true.

Someone today posted something about Trump getting the navy ready to fire on No Kings demonstrations in California. I looked it up an couldn't find any credible news outlet reporting on that.

@JimboSaturn The only thing I have seen is that Vance is supposedly setting off missiles at Camp Pendleton, CA to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday. I don't know if it is true and don't really care.
