I'm curious to see

How many people see something on FB, here or elsewhere and look it up for themselves to see if it is accurate or just take what they have seen at face value.

I see a lot of people say they "saw something", but then provide no actual information. Then i go an look things up and find the information they "saw" was wrong, skewed or misaligned.

I am guilty of not looking things up from time to time, but when questioned on them, I will and correct things. I make mistakes. But I do try to look things up to make sure things are correct.

It just seems so many do not and I have to say, this is part of the problem with people today.

We literally can't take anything at face value anymore. There is sooooo much misinformation and propaganda out there now. We are truly in a troubling time when it comes to information, but so many people are still wanting to take things as truth at face value which only hurts us.

I always try to look these things up but one problem is, eventually, how do you know which information is correct? (Excepting the obvious ones that are pretty prima facia loony) That's a big issue underlying the whole discussion. Everything is suspect.

@valentini This is true.

I don't get my info from YouTube or TikYoc vids because honestly, I'm not going to trust someone who has monetized their information and providing content for profit. If they were honestly distilling info, the monetization wouldn't be there. (I'm not against people making money, but if your profit is based on videos that are increasing a political divide, your content is garbage.)

I stick with the main sources now, mostly outside of the US. I have been listening to podcasts done by journalists and they often complain how many people are produxing content with literally little to no research and just putting things out there that are the equivalent of an Op Ed in a newspaper.

It is hard to get a lot of verifications
and will only get harder as we go.
