@SomeMichGuy i mean what would the world look like.

If rome never conquered britan, would the colonial period be the same? Would there be a canada, usa, south africa, new zealand, etc? Would persia have been the worlds biggest super power?

Would scotland and Ireland just get alomg with the britans and stayed independent nations?

Would christianity be as wide spread?

What pagan traditions would have evolved over time if not destroyed and assimilated by rome?
@GuyWithOpinions I think you'd need to show why Rome conquering Britain (ending in...let's see...84 AD) would have anything to do with Britain developing sea power and then being part of the age of exploration and scramble for far-flung territories...

RE: Persia, that was settled by the Greeks before Rome...

@SomeMichGuy britan was just "the barbarians from the north" until rome gave them technology, infrastructure and and government structure. Rome fought persia for many years. The roman empire was around like 500 years.

@SomeMichGuy they wouldnt have been a world power in colonial times i dont think
@GuyWithOpinions

That's from the Latins' point of view.

The British Empire was built on ships. Are you saying Britain was given shipbuilding tech by Rome?

Rome fought persia for many years.

And Rome was able to do that because the Greeks kept them out of Europe during two massive invasion attempts.

Why do you think NOT invading Britain would have made it MORE likely for Persia to become a world power?

The roman empire was around like 500 years.

lmao

I have heard of it...

@SomeMichGuy curiosity is a driving force for humanity.

Alot of things would be different if britan hadnt become a world power.

Same could be said if russia couldnt hold back the mongolian invasion.

Just intriguing to think what would the world look like if history had been different
@GuyWithOpinions Yes and you still haven't explained why you think Rome not having reached Britain would have prevented Britain from becoming a world power.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
@SomeMichGuy im not saying they might not have still become a world power one day but rome give them quite a quick start as they did for many areas in thier conquered region in the same way britan made colonies in thier time.

I think the idea to conquer the world and expand as far as they did came from roman ideolgy. Everything in court, military, government and medicine still uses latin slogans.

The english language is routed from latin yet before rome they were celtic.

Just saying its a huge change. My main point being, what if history were different. Britan changed most of the world during the colonial period.

If they never bought guns from the spanish would they have even held land in the americas? If knights never needed heavy armor would guns have even been invented? Imagine trying to take on the zulu or apache with longbows and swordsman.
