What does it mean?

What does it mean when someone says, "Don't let someone cover your lampshade?" I've never heard this before and was just curious.

A lampshade is a symbol of individuality, uniqueness, personality so on. To cover that would be not letting you show who you are. Let's say you are very bright and bubbly and the person you go to a party with says "hey don't be so loud tonight" that would be an example of hiding your lampshade. So in short don't let anyone tell you turn any part of yourself off.

We’ll, the Third Reich must have believed that. Literally

@Thrust mindlessly off topic. So if you have a point wear a hat maybe it won't show

Nah, I’d call it an acute observation

@Thrust pull that hat down lower we still hear you. This phrase wasn't used when your dream team existed, what exactly does the third reich have to do with hiding your lampshade? Oh yeah nothing. The reason I pointed out it's off topic.
