Do you think Camilla waved enough when she was on the Royal balcony ?

We have just had a coronation and the monarchy has been assured for another generation before the unbridled adoration of the whole country.

However, the ceremony wasn't perfect. Some people have criticized Camilla for not waving enough. I myself was perturbed when she fiddled with her ear. What do you think?

That's a bit harsh ....
"The image is one thing, and the human being is another. It's very hard to live up to the image, let's put it that way." (Elvis Presley)

@Really Elvis was talking about something else quite profound. He was making a distinction between who he was (as a normal person like everyone else) and the image (of Elvis Presley, the King) that he found hard to live up to.

I wasn't expecting Camilla to live up to the image of Queen Camilla. She is not a particularly handsome woman. She looks old but that's ok. But when an old woman opens her mouth, she invokes the macabre look of a corpse.

@sree251 Well shut my mouth!

@Really Sorry. I didn't notice your age before. Your response jolted me awake to your 80-89, M status.

No offense intended. I did say that it's ok to be old. It's just that certain mannerisms are not photogenic and nice to look at. Camilla is on stage as Queen of England. She needs to have professionals managing her public image. She is a celebrity now, for Christ's sake. She owes it to her pubic to show her best face always. Queen Elizabeth II was perfect even when she was days away from death at 96. Prince Philip was another story. Like you, he couldn't give a damn about his public image.

@sree251 I'm glad you think it's 'OK' to be old, 🤣 - Hahaha. The alternative has not yet become attractive to me and I hope it doesn't for you. How awful for you, if seeing a living person's teeth makes you think of a corpse!

In general I'd like a world where superficial appearance was of little consequence and people were valued just for their character, actions & social intelligence. Something that makes a woman less attractive to me is obvious makeup. I prefer to interact with real people not afraid to be seen as they really are.

Enough said. I think our reactions to these things are often acquired biases too long buried to be rooted out. I know I have prejudices that insinuate themselves even while I'm telling myself they make no sense.

@Really You know what? It's best to be honest with each other. We all get to be old one day. Have you looked at your photos when you were in your early twenties? You looked great, right? Girls couldn't take their eyes off you even if you were not more handsome than ten movie stars as Elvis Presley was. Time flies. Even Elvis eventually looked like shit. But that's ok. We deal with it. And the only other person in the world who can deal with you is your wife, if she loves you.

Do you have a wife who loves you?

@sree251 If you can't look at real people (or their teeth) the onus is on you to get treatment for your mental problem.

@sree251 Since 62 years ago. She's lucky she didn't marry you; she'd have been divorced long ago for looking old.

@Really Married 62 years? Lucky you.

No, I wouldn't mind being with a lifelong partner. Inside that old body is a nice person.
