You'll Own Nothing and Be Happy (originally You'll Own Nothing and You'll Be Happy) is a catchphrase originating from a 2016 essay by Danish MP Ida Auken which was included in the video "8 Predictions for the World in 2030" by the World Economic Forum. While the prediction was originally explained as "all products will become services," in has since been increasingly regarded as a harbinger of dystopian times when the human right to property would be abolished for the benefit of the few.
Source: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/youll-own-nothing-and-be-happyTo some extend I think this is wonderful. It's absurd how many people own power tools they hardly use once a year. It would be much better for the environment to rent a drill when you need to hang a painting. Critics take it very literal and claim there is some global conspiracy to make sure nobody owns a house or bed they use every day. I don't believe that's the intention of Auken or the WEF.
Then there are many things in between that I'm not sure about, like shared cars. That's great for people who only need one maybe once a month and are flexible, for example to buy groceries in bulk at a cheaper store far away when they can get the daily stuff at walking distance fitting in a backpack. But I foresee problems around holidays for example when many people want to visit relatives far away on a specific day and all but one will find the shared car already booked.

It's already like that with TV shows, looks like music is going that way, too. Streaming is renting, not even that really. It's access.
The big media companies know that it's all about catalog, dumbass consumers ate it up, and all they have to do now is delete titles to make it go all away, like it never existed. We surrendered our power and we aren't getting it back.
