about a half a year of work
GanglandCriminal97 · 26-30, M
@plaguewatcher 17k less than a years worth of work for me.

Never understood. When I was in college 67k was a dream job. Now that I have it it's not enough. I might as well be frying burgers. Like, wtf?

I devoted 4 years of my life to college to make 67k and there are guys flipping burgers with better lives than me. Like, wtf?
@GanglandCriminal97 lives are bnot about the money you have, they are about the life you can live.
did you once love the subject you went to college for? or was it only for a paychceck?
I am lucky,, I still love what I studied
there is a lot worthy of seeing and doing, go on some adventures

@plaguewatcher I went to college for what my mom said would make the most money.

I really wanted to be a teacher but teachers (back then in 2015 at least) only made 40k a year.

I hate what I do, money is the only thing that keeps me there since I know the only thing that a woman would marry me for is because I'm supporting her. That's just how the world is....

I could make 40k a year but I'd never be able to get married and society would think I'm a loser. So, I'd rather just suffer through it in hopes that my life somehow works out.
@GanglandCriminal97 dont worry about what "society" thinks. Society is a Dick

Teachers are valuable more than the money they make you instinct was good Mom ust wanted you to be secure,.

make a plan, like putting aside 10 grand, and when you get it? take off for some place you have never been. learn to live cheaply, let your imaginations ask and answer

what would I rather do than this!

@plaguewatcher I actually have over 48 grand saved up. I was hoping to use that money to get married and start a family. But I'm 26 now, and most women have been married already and have a couple kids by now. I just feels like all that saving up and working was bullshyt.

It's not even worth it. If I left my home I would just end up another place and hate myself just the same.

I am really good about saving up money thanks to my mom. That's actually what she went to school for and used to do in our home country.
@GanglandCriminal97 26 is far from too old to marry. many dont even consider it till 30.
that you have saved is good, and thanks to mom for that
do you have any dreams? thing you wish you could do?
GanglandCriminal97 · 26-30, M
@plaguewatcher not really. I wish I wasn't so alone. Like, they only thing I could think of is to be a person of influence. I'm actually in a leadership role at work so that's great and all but I wish I was something bigger.

I just wish my life could have more of an impact than just being a stranger. I wish I was well known and respected. Rather than just the guy people seem to really like at work .

@GanglandCriminal97 Who's getting that much money flipping burgers? I thought it was a minimum wage job? Massachusetts minimum wage is 14.25 USD/hr so if you work 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year that is only 28.5 kUSD

@GanglandCriminal97 that happens all the time, people go to college and some people don't even get to work the field they pursued. The trick in life is to not saddle yourself with too many burdens. If you were married and had kids to deal with then you would probably be 48 Grand in debt rather than have it in savings. You are doing a lot better right now than probably most people your age.
