I Am a Curious Person

Being as I'm British I feel entitled to be excused for not knowing. It's the Trump thing. Obviously this guy, for all his political inexperience, has struck a chord with just over half of American voters. He can't behave himself around attractive young women, he's a tax-dodging billionaire and the kkk support him. Yet still he is admired by a large wedge of American society, including women and non-white people, who by any standards are perfectly decent, intelligent folk.

Since I'm not American, what I see of Trump is his bad press. Since I'm open-minded I'm convinced there is a reason I shouldn't take that bad press at face value. So I wont. Trump speaks for something that's been overlooked, repressed even, and i dont know what it is. It's not fair to label all his supporters racists misogynists and homophobes because I know it's not universally true. But I'd love to find out his appeal, given the unexpected shock of his election, and some of the reported fallout resulting from it

Its his Charisma. Being Britsh he is America's Nigel Farage. For too long Americans have been sick of lies and being told waht they should think and do. Reminds me of Labour and the Conservatives...! But Americans ar emore braver and ahve not ad the sort of LIberla brainwashing and patronizing we ahve had with the like of may, Corbyn, Blair, Brown etc Im also unashamedly a UKIP voter. YOu only ahv eto look at the disgusting Diane Abbott who is a campagne socialist and a disgrace to decent Black women. Labour and the Tories only have themselves to blame.

There must be more to it than charisma. In fact the purpose of electoral colleges was to protect the people against snake oil peddlers being elected. And Farage wasn't openly racist. He was against the free movement of other Europeans (the same majority race) from poorer economic zones such as Poland, Rumania, Albania, Bulgaria, etc who might be perceived as taking advantage. I don't think even the most ardent Brexiters ever minded French, Germans, Dutch, etc coming into the country. And RemaINers, just as reasonably, don't trust our own snobbish, London-centric governments to spread the power/money fairly and even handedly everywhere - because they have proved to be untrustworthy. Both sides of that particular fence are easy for me to understand
