I Am a Curious Person

Being as I'm British I feel entitled to be excused for not knowing. It's the Trump thing. Obviously this guy, for all his political inexperience, has struck a chord with just over half of American voters. He can't behave himself around attractive young women, he's a tax-dodging billionaire and the kkk support him. Yet still he is admired by a large wedge of American society, including women and non-white people, who by any standards are perfectly decent, intelligent folk.

Since I'm not American, what I see of Trump is his bad press. Since I'm open-minded I'm convinced there is a reason I shouldn't take that bad press at face value. So I wont. Trump speaks for something that's been overlooked, repressed even, and i dont know what it is. It's not fair to label all his supporters racists misogynists and homophobes because I know it's not universally true. But I'd love to find out his appeal, given the unexpected shock of his election, and some of the reported fallout resulting from it

Trump is anti-globalization. Hence the bad press. Looks like that's all you know.

I know nothing. I admit it. We hear stuff and its all bad, so my thinking is, there must be more to it than we're being fed. But what? What does he stand for?

@damselfly: end illegal immigration, lower taxes, fix the health insurance mess called Obamacare, protect American jobs. All bad things to the globalization supporting media. Therefore they bash him relentlessly. But the people are anxious for change and made their choice very clear.
