Book, "You Will Go To The Moon"

This was a book I owned as a child and it fascinated me. It was originally printed in 1959, when even the concept of a person in outer space was more science fiction than fact.

Ah. When I turned 7 my father gave me as a bday present a box full of illustrated books, which by the way were British, and some of those were about the future. Some of it was really...well...like this...
@OnePatheticClown Wow, very cool ! 😃
@OnePatheticClown I still say the spinning wheel is probably the best design we've come up with for a space station with simulated gravity, and I'm disappointed that nobody's tried to make one.

@OnePatheticClown I remember collecting a fortnightly science magazine back in the late 80's called Quest...
That had a lot of similar concepts of what the 21st century might look like.

When I was about 10, in 1960, I decided when I turned 50, in 2000, I would have lunch on the moon on my birthday. And maybe even spend the night!
I still remember books from my childhood that my mom read to my brother and I.
If they didn’t necessarily inspire us, they definitely left a long lasting impression

I'm curious to see what it would be like.

I never got there😫 But I guess mankind did

First book ,I remember fondly was Three Stuffed Owls..a detective novel🦉

I looked around to see if I could purchase it but it seemed to sell for a minimum !00-200 USd

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be🤨
@bookerdana I saw it on EBay—one for $26.12 and one for $35.

It's funny that my father never really had given me anything regarding space.

Yet he did buy me a whole 30 volume encyclopedia Americana set with other related books when I was two years old! 🙃😊

Such high hopes he had for me.

I remember i was rather dissapointed to see the pics of the attire of those who walked on the moon! I think i expected something like the Wizard of Oz comics 😁

I'm hoping we'll make it back there in my lifetime.
