I Want Victims Of Childhood Abuse To Share Their Poetry
today
I saw someone who remembered me
we started to talk
and I realized he remembered me
before him
before his hands
before my body ached
He remembered a me
who could not lie
who did not know how
who's eyes were a window
not shutters on my soul
He remembered me
before virginity was a question
and innocence was stolen
He remembered me
before I was frozen in time
I wish he knew me now
maybe he could tell me who I used to be
and show me how to get back
I want to remember me
"Me" before him
before it
I want to remember how that felt
Tell me - I pleaded
what was I like
before he, umm, well you know
please tell me
And than I realized
he can’t help me
because
"Me" doesn't mean what it used to
"Me" doesn't feel like it used to
"Me" is just another thing
frozen in time
I saw someone who remembered me
we started to talk
and I realized he remembered me
before him
before his hands
before my body ached
He remembered a me
who could not lie
who did not know how
who's eyes were a window
not shutters on my soul
He remembered me
before virginity was a question
and innocence was stolen
He remembered me
before I was frozen in time
I wish he knew me now
maybe he could tell me who I used to be
and show me how to get back
I want to remember me
"Me" before him
before it
I want to remember how that felt
Tell me - I pleaded
what was I like
before he, umm, well you know
please tell me
And than I realized
he can’t help me
because
"Me" doesn't mean what it used to
"Me" doesn't feel like it used to
"Me" is just another thing
frozen in time
