Admitting it is the first step to recovery

Does that go for any illness? If I admit that I’m not well and my head is full of suicidal thoughts is that a step to getting better?

Well not ALL, but in general, yes.
(Im assuming you mean mental illness)

Like, i dont imagine schizophrenia is curable by mental effort alone, but some other ilnesses such as addiction, depression, trauma, even narcissism, can be helped greatly by going through the mental journey of acceptance and ingraining new mental processes.

Its a very personal journey, unique to each person.
But accepting ones 'illness' if you want to call it that, is like finally facing ones demons: instead of hiding from
it, or numbing it, or denying it, you decide to embrace it, and face it.

They say the way to healing is THROUGH.
Its not fun though, its a painful process. (Which is why many prefer to stick with medication)

We can't change what has happened, we cant fix the past, but we CAN change our perception of it, and how we react to memories of it.

And for many, this can lead to a very empowered transition. ie: some trauma victims become therapists for the very thing they suffered .

It is a long journey though. Its not weeks or months, but years. True healing takes time.💜
