Did you know that one of the most famous songs of all time may have been stolen from an uncredited artist?
Chuck Berry changed music with his 1958 hit Johny B. Goode.
But did you know that at a high school dance in California three years earlier, after a band member was wounded in a racially charged incident, a student by the name of Calvin Klein took his place on stage and performed the exact same song.
Rumor has it that Chuck’s cousin Marvin was the wounded band member and called Chuck on the phone, letting him hear and possibly copy the song to be used later.
While Chuck and Marvin have both passed away and cannot be asked about the incident, the school in Hill Valley California says there’s no record of a student by that name from 1950-1958.
What do you think? Was the original writer of Johny B. Goode Chuck Berry or this mystery student?
