Even worse, the minimum wage for a tipped worker has been $2.13 per hour since 1991. Literally over a generation.

That's insane.
That's insane.
@LeopoldBloom that’s the worst.

@LeopoldBloom They can also make 200, 300 dollars a night in tips

Please tell me how you calculated this number? It's not the average I'm hearing about in your everyday Joe's restaurant. You can also win the lottery!

@SUPERVlXEN From women I have spoken too. they won't make it at Waffle House, but some of the nicer restaurants do very well.

And how many are there of those?
And how many are there of those?
@DallasCowboysFan so because the nicer restaurants have tips that pay very well, that makes it alright for the Waffle House to exploit their workers? Is that what you are trying to say?

@JustGoneNow Maybe the guests at Waffle House should tip better.
I don't believe anyone is exploited. If you don't like your job, find another one.
But....you might be interested in this movie : Metropolis - 1927
It's a silent movie, black and white, but the theme of the movie is exploitation of the working class.
It's regarded as one of the best movies ever made, and if you consider the time in which it was made, 1927, and the fact that movie making was in its infancy, this movie was excellent. It's worth your time to watch it.
Fritz Lang directed it. He is considered among the best directors for his era.
----Made in Germany during the Weimar period, Metropolis is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and follows the attempts of Freder, the wealthy son of the city master, and Maria, a saintly figure to the workers, to overcome the vast gulf separating the classes in their city and bring the workers together with Joh Fredersen, the city master. The film's message is encompassed in the final inter-title: "The Mediator Between the Head and the Hands Must Be the Heart"

@DallasCowboysFan I’ll check it out, ty. We probably have much in common with most of our views, honestly. May just have to agree to disagree on this one.

How about you answer my question? In case you didn't get it the first time let me repeat it for you...
In a follow up question to your prior remark...

@DallasCowboysFan That depends on the restaurant. We used to know a German guy who was a server at a German restaurant (apparently, when German tourists visit the US, they want to eat in German restaurants). He easily made $400 a night in tips. Your average server at Waffle House doesn't make anything close to that. By law, the tips have to bring the server up to $7.25 per hour, and if they don't, their employer is only responsible for making sure they get at least that much.
