Today was a mixed bag, mostly bad.
Got up early because my dad was scheduled to testify via WebEx on behalf of Pastor Mike against his new landlord. He was up, and the assistant Mike's attorney sent over was very capable. Which is all well and good, but I found out last night he was planning on tagging along when I left for my therapist's office at 1:00, and having me drop him off at the duplex at 12:00. Was not looking forward to that, but I was unable to freely express how I felt because we had company. 🙄
Once I had him set up, I went out to the bunny room, only to find that Sapphire is dead, leaving George a widower. I was expecting it, because she was crying out last night, but it was still heartbreaking to see her lying there all stiff. Mom and I put her in a bag, then put that bag in another bag, and put her in the freezer until we can bury her.
Then, as I was getting everything ready to go to my therapist's office (driving from Sherwood to West Linn via southeast Portland, which for those who know is doubling back for no good reason whatsoever), I noticed a text from my therapist saying she had to cancel today. I made an executive decision not to tell my dad, because there's only so long I can take being around Dave and Cathy. Plus I was still on the hunt for a new Nintendo Switch to replace the one Ignacio stole right out of my living room.
So I dropped off the old man, took off under the false pretense of going to the canceled therapy appointment. Went around the corner, parked, and opened up Facebook Marketplace. As it turns out, however, noon on a work day isn't a good time to get in touch with somebody who's selling stuff. Only one person responded, and that person was definitely using Facebook at her workplace.
At this point, I had an hour or two to kill, so I started checking out game stores and Pawn shops. I knew that GameStop was going to be way too expensive for a used nintendo, so I didn't even bother. Stuff on 82nd has always been a reliable place to find... well, stuff like that, so I tried them. Turns out they had just sold the last one, unless I wanted the whole package with chargers and controllers and docking ports. I didn't need all of that, because the only thing stolen was the machine.
So I opened up OfferUp. Found a Switch that looked suspiciously like mine. Purple and orange joy-cons, some of the plastic at the top damaged just like mine. It was only 5 miles away, so I jetted over to the pawn shop to look into it. Turns out the serial number on the device they had was similar to mine, but not identical. No joy there. But they felt bad that I had mine stolen, so they gave me $10 off.
So how was your day?
