Update: The second check wasn't cashed today, it was cashed yesterday and didn't show up until today.

The fraud was caught in time, and we're going to be refunded. In addition, it's been strongly suggested that the police would like to talk to us, meaning that the woman who attempted to defraud us is going to do time.

@ElwoodBlues Not all of them. Definitely the one that someone got hold of, though. And yes, it's a pain. Mom's paycheck auto deposits into that account.

I was reminded that the same thing happened to my sister and an organization she's connected with. They wrote some checks and two of them (I think) got intercepted, washed, and re-written for much larger amounts.

They were also able to recover their money, but she doesn't trust the mail for sending checks any more.
