Well. That sucked great big fuzzy monster balls.

I made an appointment for my dad to get some of his teeth pulled this morning at 10:00. That's normally the time I get up in the morning, so I had to take proactive measures to make sure I was awake at 9:00 in order to get him out of the house at 9:30 to go to his appointment at 10:00.

Went to bed early. (Well, early for me. By which I mean like 1:30. I had to cut short my time in Sims 4, before I could get my Benicio del Toro Sim to the party in Mapance.) Turned off my usual 6:00 a.m. alarm reminding me to put my mask on in case I forget and fall asleep. Got everything ready.

Then my brain did that thing it always does when I've got an important appointment first thing in the morning. Even with no alarm at that time, I woke up at 6:00, convinced it was 9:00. Had to wake up enough to physically look at my phone to convince my brain it wasn't time yet. Then I had dream after dream where I was running late for something. Just one rushed deadline after another. Woke up at 8:00, again convinced I was late, until I checked my phone again.

Finally, 9:00 a.m. rolls around, and the special alarm I set went off playing Metallica's "Dream No More". (Get it?) Having had such a crappy time of it, I was slow to wake up, and was just finally rolling out of bed at 9:10, when my mom comes in to tell me that Dad had called to cancel his appointment, because he's having stomach troubles.

I make no appts before 1pm.
I suffer from the same anxiety.

@Carla I wouldn't have scheduled it that early, but my dad insists on being put under for major dental work, so that means no breakfast.

@LordShadowfire ahhh...
I don't blame him.
I feel you though. Mom lived with me in her last years. I did many, many appt runs. And I too was, at times, obliged to do things for her that i absolutely will not do for myself.
Like go hungry and thirsty. Had an abdominal ultrasound just Tuesday. No food or drink after 9pm. Appt at 2pm.
God I do that too. I don’t generally set an alarm for the mornings now but if it’s something really important I just spend all night hysterical I’ve missed it

@Lemonadepopper It doesn't help that I have a lot of anxiety around being late, because he's been late to so many things, and also made me late to so many things.
