Riddle Me This. #4

In a play that so few dare to tread,
Lies a story shrouded in mystery and dread.
The first act paints you pictures oh so clear,
Of a world long gone,
but oh so dear.

Yet the second act, the shadows grow,
And twisted visions begin to flow.

Your mind, it spirals far out of control,
With each word taking a darker toll.

But be warned, for the third act lies in wait,
A trap for the unwary, it seals your fate.
It leads you down a path of madness and fear,
A descent into a horrible world so unclear.

So take heed, my friend, and be careful in kind,
For the play that I speak of, it messes with your mind.

What Am I?

Four hours have passed, without a solution so true,
A large clue I'll provide, to help you get through.
The story I reference is from a
Lovecraftian tale,
The story, a madness that'll leave you pale.

You're some person posting on SW....
@originnone
Funnily enough, Mr. Eagle's guess,
Was closest to the mark, I must confess.
My faith in the community is starting to wane,
For such a simple riddle, it's just a shame.

@DrRiddler On your response I am impressed
Your rhyming is among the best....
@originnone
I've been going all night, but it's a sham,
My prose is boring and standard as spam.
My words are stagnant, like a pond in the sun,
I need to make them dance, and have some fun.

@DrRiddler My favorite poem came from a comic book years ago...A villain wrote it.

"This am remind me of Christmas poem...
Christmas time now am here
Excuse me while I scratch my ear.
Unmerry Christmans, Dummies...."

classic!
@originnone That was actually painful to read, I love it.
