I chatted with Google AI, and it said:

I then asked about wages and after some discussion, the AI said a McDonald's worker in 1971 would have to work 24 minutes at minimum wage to afford a Big Mac. Then it said at today's McDonald's wage, they would have to work 24-25 minutes to afford today's Big Mac. Interesting!

Yet they probably would just go to Chipotle! 😁

The stark fact of many of these old price displays is that wages were lower pro-rata, so places like these were as expensive then as they are now.
