Going on a date with a guy, we're going to the cinema. is it weird my mum doesn't want me going to McDonalds with him and wants him in the car?

My mum said right out the cinema (it's at a retail park, so there's lots of shops and it's very busy) I need to join her in the car where she'll drive to McDonalds a literal minute away, and then we'll eat in the car and she'll drop him off. She's autistic and has a hyper fixation on true crime podcasts.

Is this awkward/her treating me like I'm a teenager? I'm 32 years old.

She wants him in the car? Put them in the back seat together.

I was about to ask your age. I think it is very awkward indeed. Your mom she let you just enjoy the date.

I understand the worry/panic but I’d still say it’s overkill. Perhaps if you don’t mind give her GPS tracking on your phone? My parents feel much safer if I give it to them when I’m traveling out of a state, but not for dates (perhaps because I’m a guy).

Yeah ,but in a way if the guy is wiling to tolerate it it says a lot about him as a person in a good way.

I can understand it being undesirable behavior though. I don't listen to True crime podcast when I'm driving myself, I listen to audiobooks or Pandora.
that is very weird and crazy

Maybe a little paranoid. Maybe theres a reason she feela that way.

Lol there are less overbearing ways to be safe if that's her concern. Maybe she's trying to seduce him idk
